Laser Hair Removal

About this treatment

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular treatments for both men and women. Offering long-term results for unwanted hair, it can save time and money in the long term by taxing away the need to shave, epilate or wax. Laser hair removal has been proven to permanently reduce excess and unwanted hair on the face legs, underarms, back, bikini line and other areas. Results can be permanent but occasional maintenance treatments may be required, particularly when dealing with hormonal hair growth. We have two lasers for hair removal – Fotona’s FRAC3® and Syneron Candela’s GentleMax Pro.

Utilising FRAC3® technology, Fotona’s high-performance Nd:YAG laser provides safe and effective hair reduction for all skin types. The powerful penetration of the laser ensures it can target even the deepest hair follicles, while its low absorption in all skin types makes sure the surrounding tissue is undamaged, guaranteeing safe and effective hair removal, even in the darkest skin types. Using the high-performance S-11 scanner large areas such as the legs, back and chest can be treated in less time, making treatment not only more comfortable but also more affordable. Between three to five sessions, six to eight weeks apart will be needed to achieve the desired results.

GentleMax Pro

The GentleMax Pro is a dual wavelength laser platform that combines the fastest and most powerful 755nm Alexandrite laser with the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser for high performance treatment capabilities in terms of speed, efficacy, ease-of-use, outstanding performance, safety and patient satisfaction. No laser treatment is completely painless but advances in technology have made treatments faster and more comfortable than ever before. The GentleMax Pro is so safe and gentle it can be used on all skin types. For hair removal the GentleMax Pro is the aesthetic industry's premier laser for removing hair in skin types 1-4 worldwide. It has the fastest treatment time so you will spend half the time in the treatment room, making even large areas fit in to your lunch break as well as being loaded with advanced features that continue to deliver superior results and earn the trust of practitioners worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

Is this treatment suitable for me?
If you have unwanted hair on your face or body then laser hair removal may be suitable for you. Certain hair colours, such as very fair blonde or grey hair, do not respond to laser treatment. Care should also be taken with darker skin types. The ideal candidate for laser hair removal traditionally has dark hair and fair skin, however as advances in laser technology have developed, we are able to treat darker skin types. If you have a tan or have recently been in the sun you may not be able to have treatment until your tan has faded. You will need to have a consultation to see if this treatment is suitable for you.
How many Treaments will I need?
Laser hair removal requires a course of treatments as the hair has different growth phases or cycles. When it is in is “dormant” phase the hair does not have enough pigment to sufficiently absorb the laser light so we need to target it in its active growth phase to get the best results. Typically you would need between six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart to see clearance in the hair.
What areas of the body can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?
We can treat most areas of the face and body with laser hair removal. Common areas are the chin, underarms, legs, back and bikini line.
What can I expect during Treatment?
Treatment can be slightly uncomfortable but the lasers we use today are designed to minimize pain and discomfort. You may feel a quick, hot flicking sensation on the skin as the laser is fired.
How long does the Treatment take?
This will depend on what area is being treated. Facial hair and underarms can be treated very quickly, while large areas such as backs and legs will take longer.
Are the any side effects or risks?
As with any laser treatment there are potential risks and side effects with laser treatment. One potential side effect is a laser burn. Due to the nature of lasers, to ensure the safest most effective setting to treat your skin we also carry out an essential test patch on a small area of your skin at least 48 hours prior to any laser treatment.
Can I have this Treatment when I am pregnant?
No, unfortunately we cannot currently use any lasers on you during the course of your pregnancy. Even though it is widely believed that lasers would be safe (as they do not move through the body or emit any harmful radiation), no official tests have yet been conducted on pregnant women to prove this.
What results can I expect from my Treatment?
Although laser treatment can’t claim to permanently remove all unwanted hair, it can permanently reduce it. After your course of treatment you can expect to see a clearance of hair in the treated area. You may need to pop in occasionally for maintenance treatments in future to keep all the hair at bay as sometimes it can come back. Hormonal hair, such as female facial hair, usually requires continued maintenance.
Can I have this Treatment before my Wedding / Big Event?
Yes, but if you are planning to have hair removal before a big event, bare in mind that it takes a number of months to achieve the final result as you will need a course of treatments spaced at least four weeks apart.
