LESIONS
Characteristics of lesions
Common skin growths like skin tags and milia usually cause little to no harm. Skin tags develop in folds of the skin while milia are often found around the under eye area. Milia are filled with the protein keratin, they usually go away by themselves but can be unsightly so many people seek treatment for them
The key causes
Skin tags can appear smooth or irregular, although the cause is unknown for certain, it is thought that skin rubbing against skin may play a role, as they usually form among skin folds – in the armpits, neck, groin and sometimes on eyelids. While milia form when there is a build-up of the protein keratin, which gets trapped under the skin forming a tiny bump.
