Plane warts are a type of infectious wart caused by the Human Papilloma virus (HPV). This means they are extremely contagious. They appear as small raised lesions on the skin and are usually smooth in texture. They are also known as flat warts.
Plane warts are most commonly found on the backs of the hands and on the face. You can also get them on other parts of the body however.
Plane warts are extremely common and anyone can get them. They are very infectious so can be contracted from someone else with the virus. People whose immune system is low are also more susceptible to the HPV virus and therefore warts.
